MEET THE TEAM
The People Behind Peterson Winery
We are a small but mighty team whose dedication comes through in every Peterson wine.
Fred Peterson
My goal for Peterson Winery and myself is a simple one – to craft better and better wines each year. Having grown grapes and made wine since the 70s, we still continue to improve. We also continue our long-standing traditions of farming sustainably and making wines with as much care and attention to detail as possible.
Jamie Peterson
Winemaker etc.” is what Jamie’s business card reads. Although he spends most of his time in the cellar, as general manager he has to wear many different hats including lead tech support, grease monkey and maintenance man, and marketing director.
2026 will mark his 29th harvest, having learned on the job as a teenager. After working two vintages in Australia and New Zealand, at 20 Jamie moved back to California. He took winemaking classes at the Santa Rosa Junior College and UC Davis, while also working at Peterson winery and a local restaurant.
When Fred’s assistant winemaker gave notice in 2002, Fred tapped Jamie to come onboard to help out, and he never left. With on-the-job training supplemented by extension classes and studies, Jamie’s winemaking honors the traditions of Zero Manipulation and has been fine-tuned over the past decades.
When not taking care of winery business, Jamie spends his time with his two children, exploring the beaches and hills of Sonoma County, cooking, or playing softball with other winery families and friends.
Jan Gironimi
Jan has been a part of the Peterson family for almost three decades, ever since the days at the red barn off Lytton Springs Road. Like Jamie, Jan wears a lot of hats and loves the variety in every workday. Managing the day-to-day office duties along with pouring wine for weekday visitors and fulfilling Wine Club member’s needs, Jan never has a slow day. If you happen to call the winery, Jan will answer your call with a smile, and happily take your wine order, too.
